In pics: This Two-Michelin Star London restaurant is about to open in Dubai
The term ‘iconic’ gets kicked around a little too freely for our tastes. But for institutions like Gymkhana, there are few better ways to describe it…
Fun foodie fact for you: There are only four Indian restaurants in the world that hold the coveted Two-Michelin Star status (and only one with three which, unsurprisingly, can be found in Dubai).
London restaurant Gymkhana is one member of this elite four-pillared alumni. It opened in Mayfair in 2013, and is the magnus opus of a trio of siblings – Jyotin, Karam and Sunaina Sethi. The JKS Restaurants concept takes the diverse, rich and storied cuisine of the Indian sub continent and presents it in exquisitely executed form.

We knew that Gymkhana would be making it’s way too Dubai’s simmering epicentre of gastronomic excellence, but until now – we didn’t have a firm date. The wait for that is over, we now know that Gymkhana Dubai is set to open on Tuesday September 1, 2026 at its DIFC location in Gate Village, Building 7.
Why is Gymkhana so special
Beloved by A-listers, critics, chefs, TopJaw talking heads and just anybody with a functioning, appreciative palate – the menu allows diners to take a sensorial safari through chaat-style sharing plates, tandoori-grilled delicacies, funkily unctuous curries and fragrant biryanis. It’s traditional Indian cuisine, painted in all its vibrant flavours, and communicated through the fabric of outstanding hospitality.
What makes the Dubai location distinct?
Excitingly, we have also had confirmation that Dubai will be getting its own selection of exclusive dishes.
This DIFC edition of Gymkhana will unfold across two levels in its Gate Village location, with seating additional seating on the alfresco terrace. The ground floor is divided between two dining areas the upper staging will be soothed by soft lantern lighting, ornate patterned ceilings, and booth and banquette seating.
The lower level decorative highlights include mirrored ceilings, cinematic chandeliers and – perhaps most importantly – a peacock-inspired bar. *adds peacock bar to cart*.
What is in a name?
For those curious about the nomenclature’s origin story – it’s a name borrowed from the grand old sporting clubs of India, enclaves where members of high society would go to clink glasses and discuss asset portfolios.
This isn’t the first Gymkhana to take estate on a new continent. Outposts in Riyadh (2023) and Las Vegas (2025) have already opened to great acclaim, and a sister restaurant, Ambassadors Clubhouse in New York earlier this year.
Talking about the Dubai opening, Pavan Pardasani, Global CEO, JKS Restaurants said: “Dubai has established itself as one of the world’s leading culinary destinations, making it a natural home for Gymkhana’s next chapter.”
“Our ambition has always been to share the restaurant’s approach to Indian cuisine and hospitality with new audiences, while remaining true to the heritage and character that define the brand. We are excited to bring Gymkhana to DIFC and look forward to welcoming guests to experience the food, service and atmosphere that have made the restaurant so special.”
