HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai appeared as a hologram over the Dubai World Summit to discuss the topic of ‘7 Shifts Shaping Future Cities’.

Sheikh Hamdan also told audiences at the World Government Summit that Dubai’s goal is to reach “10 years ahead of world cities”.

Dubai’s Crown Prince took to Twitter after he addressed the audience to stress that “Anticipating future shifts & challenges, we need to harness the power of innovation & creativity to set standards for smart cities”.

“As we talk about the future of cities, we must remember that cities are driven by global economic developments and the harmonisation of cultures and ideas,” he said during his address, according to Gulf Business.

“Dubai is at the heart of every discussion on future cities, the world looks at us for a glimpse of tomorrow. Our goal, as described by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is to put Dubai ’10 years ahead of world cities’,” he added.

Sheikh Hamdan further took to Twitter to stress that ‘We are working hard to realise the vision of @HHShkMohd to place Dubai 10 years ahead of other cities. Concerted efforts are required from gov’t & private entities to make Dubai the world’s No. 1 city’.

Dubai’s Crown Prince spoke of issues of mobility during his delivery at the summit, and referenced how Dubai is working to reduce commute times in the city by introducing the Hyperloop and the RTA’s air taxi initiative.
