Sheikh Mohammed visits Dubai Arena ahead of opening
He’s also given us a first-look inside the mega new arena…
Dubai Arena is one of the most hotly anticipated openings of 2019 and ahead of opening, HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai has paid it a visit.
The striking arena in City Walk will become the largest indoor arena in the region when it opens in the coming months.
During his visit, Sheikh Mohammed was briefed on all the features of Dubai Arena, alongside HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
Sheikh Mohammed was also briefed on the eye-catching active-lit façade at Dubai Arena, which has the capacity to accommodate 17,000 visitors and host multiple events all year round.
“With Dubai Arena, the city has set a new benchmark in the tourism and family entertainment sector – shaping a new avenue for economic growth while also enhancing the emirate’s potential as a top destination for some of the world’s most prestigious events,” Abdulla Al Habbai, Group Chairman of Meraas said during the visit.
Although an official opening date for Dubai Arena has not yet been given, it’s widely thought that the recently announced Maroon 5 gig will take place at Dubai Arena in June.
A Maroon 5 concert was announced by Done Events last week, although they’re yet to reveal the date and location.
Upon opening, Dubai Arena will become the largest all-purpose, air-conditioned indoor arena in the Middle East with capacity to host up to 17,000 guests for a variety of events. The venue will be managed by international operator AEG Ogden, who are also responsible for The O2 Arena in London.
As well as concerts and festivals, conferences and exhibitions, Dubai Arena is expected to host sporting events such as basketball, boxing, volleyball, and ice hockey.
