Ryan Reynolds to star in a new Netflix film shot in the UAE

The UAE is no stranger to an A-list visitor or a Hollywood movie being filmed here, but we never fail to get excited when a new one comes around.
Ryan Reynolds is the latest celebrity in question, having posted a trailer of his new Netflix film, 6 Underground, to his Instagram page, with UAE locations including Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah all featured.
The new film, which will be released on December 13, looks action-packed, featuring car races, high tech gadgets and some pretty huge explosives. Reynolds plays the character of ‘One’ in a group of six billionaires who fake their own deaths to form a vigilante squad who aim to take down notorious criminals.

In the clip, the Abu Dhabi skyline can be seen behind the domed roof of the Louvre Abu Dhabi, as well as a sunset shot of the impressive Sheikh Zayed Bridge and the Grand Mosque in the distance. The capital city’s HQ building is featured numerous times in the clip, with masked men scaling the building.
The inside of the Louvre, Abu Dhabi’s world-famous art museum, is also included in the film, with two actors seen walking next to the pretty water features and impressive wall inscriptions in the atrium.
Onto the Liwa Desert, two helicopters can be seen flying low over the sand dunes, creating massive dust clouds beneath them and continuing with the UAE’s more natural scenes, the rocky mountains of Jebel Hafeet are also seen, with Reynolds in the promotional shots.
With a budget of around $125 million (Dhs460 million) 6 Underground is said to be Netflix’s most expensive film to date. Directed by Michael Bay, aside from Ryan Reynolds, other stars in the film include Melanie Laurent, Dave Franco and Ben Hardy.
