Get some exercise

05. Fitness at the mall

Hold the front page: you can get some exercise while visiting a shopping centre, and we don’t just mean from all that walking. Marina Mall is hosting two evening fitness events this month. The first is a boot camp, running daily at 8pm – visitors to the mall can take part in a series of exercises and if they do well at them, they can have a crack at The Unique Challenge, an obstacle course that has been set up in the mall’s main exhibition area. There’s a Dhs10 fee to take part in the activities, which will be donated to a local autism centre.
Marina Mall, Breakwater, Abu Dhabi, daily 8pm, Dhs10. Tel: (800) 6623. Taxi: Marina Mall. marinamall.ae

06. Train, Start, GoYas

Yas Marina Circuit’s Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday track nights for cyclists and runners will still take place throughout the whole summer. Just make sure you take plenty of water and don’t overdo it – it’s not uncommon for the temperatures to still be in the late thirties even at 9pm in June, July and August. Bike hire, including helmets, will also be available. All the sessions are open until midnight during Ramadan.

07. A glowing round of golf

Al fresco golf is only for diehards during the current sweltering daylight hours, and even at night it can be a sweaty experience. A more light-hearted version of the game can also be played in the dark, but indoors, and in a mall. Tee And Putt is the capital’s only neon, glow in the dark mini-course and it’s open until late on weekends. With ultraviolet lights, aliens and astronauts, it’s a fun way to while away a few hours and escape the heat.

Try a class this month at the Eastern Mangroves’ hotel.
