HH Sheikh Nahyan opens a new public beach on Al Hudayriat Island
It’s only a 10 minute walk from anywhere on the island
HH Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan inaugurated a brand new stretch of beach on Al Hudayriat Island, southwest of the capital on Sunday.
The 800 metre-long beach is free to use for the public and is open from 8am to 7pm, daily.
It is conveniently located only a 10 minute walk from anywhere on the island, and directly across the bridge from Al Bateen Beach.
Visitors have access to a number of facilities, including a 10km cycling track, football, basketball and tennis courts and children’s playgrounds, as well as food trucks, public restrooms and lifeguard services.
During Ramadan, the Al Majlis Tent will also be open to visitors offering Iftar and Suhoor for the duration of the Holy Month.
Located on the 3,000-hectare Al Hudayriat Island, the new beach forms part of a bigger project along the island’s waterfront that was originally announced in 2009 and, when finished, will consists of housing for Emiratis and shopping facilities.
