After a decade throwing events in Montreal, as well as successful parties in Barcelona and Melbourne, daytime music festival Piknic Electronik will set up camp in Dubai later his month.
The first in a series of monthly Saturday events that will run from 1pm to 10pm, Piknic Elecronik is aimed at “electronic music lovers and hip young families”. Which means that parents choking for a fix of dance music can bring the kids along too.
“Dubai’s expatriate community works hard and plays hard, and is constantly seeking new alternative types of entertainment,” said Piknic Dubai’s Adam Fahim. “That, coupled with the sudden explosion of the electronic music scene here, makes Dubai the perfect new home for Piknic Electronik.”

It was revealed earlier this month that Daniel Maher, Joachim Pastor, Raxon and Matthew Charles were amongst the DJs on the line-up. Piknics elsewhere have featured the likes of Gui Boratto, DJ Falcon and No Regular Play.
“The festival will also be a platform for local artists to launch into the international scene through an artist exchange programme with other Piknic Electronik cities around the world,” added Adam. “In addition, activities involving dance and art will be a part of each event to encourage creative discovery.”
With plans to also launch in Madrid, Lisbon, Sydney and Santiago this year, four Dubai dates have been set for February 28, March 28, April 18 and May 9. The festival will then return to Dubai in November.
