RTA: All the road closures you need to be aware about
Plan ahead…
It’s finally the weekend and whether you’re heading straight on home or planning to paint the city red, take note of these road closures in Dubai.
Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that a number of roads are closed due to the outcome of the heavy rain over the past few days, but also because of the performances taking place at Coca-Cola Arena tonight.
Here are the road closures you need to know about.
Road closures from 5pm to midnight
On Friday, January 27 and 28, Hans Zimmer is performing at the Coca-Cola Arena and in order to maintain the traffic, RTA has announced some road closures.
Affected roads on January 27&28, 5:00 PM-12:00 AM midnight, coinciding with the Coca-Cola Arena events:
-Al Safa St.
– Al Badaa St.
– Sheikh Zayed Rd. at the intersection with the Financial Centre St.

The roads that will be closed from 5pm to 12am on both days include Al Safa Street, Al Badaa Street and Sheikh Zayed Road at the intersection with Financial Centre Street.
Alternative routes to use include Al Wasl Street, Al Meydan Street and Al Khail Road.
If you are heading to the concert, RTA suggests using the Dubai Metro, the closest station to Coca-Cola Arena is Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station.
A number of roads were closed earlier on in the day due to the rains, so stay tuned to RTA for any updates.
But, is there more rain on the way?
According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), there’s more rain to come for most of the country until this weekend, Friday. Heavy rainfall is also expected to fall today Thursday, January 26.
And with the rain comes the chilly wind. The meteorology centre stated that temperatures will drop to as low as 16°C in Dubai and 14°C in Abu Dhabi. Think that’s cold? In the Northern Emirates, it is expected to go as low as 10°C. The highest temperature is estimated to be a cool 26°C in Dubai.
