UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nayhan has declared seven days of mourning, upon the passing of Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, the Abu Dhabi Ruler’s Representative in the Al Ain Region. Sheikh Tahnoun was also the UAE President’s uncle.
Announced by state news agency, wam, Sheikh Tahnoun passed away on Wednesday, with seven days of mourning declared from May 1. During the mourning period, flags across the emirates will fly at half-mast.

The Presidential Court issued the following obituary:
“In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful… With hearts faithful to God’s decree and destiny, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan mourns his uncle, H.H. Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler’s Representative in Al Ain Region, who passed away today.”
