Etihad Airways resumes flights to Pakistan
In better news…
Etihad Airways, the UAE’s national carrier, has confirmed that flights to Pakistan have resumed following a brief stoppage of operations last week, in light of recent developments in the region.
Last week, Etihad announced that flights from Abu Dhabi to the Pakistani cities of Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad had returned to the UAE capital, resulting from the closure of the Pakistan airspace – with scheduled flights outbound from the mentioned cities to Abu Dhabi also being suspended. Flights EY296/297 (Abu Dhabi – Karachi) and EY302/303(Abu Dhabi – Islamabad) were also cancelled.
However, on Saturday, May 10, Pakistan reopened its airspace following positive developments, and Etihad confirmed that flight operations to Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad airports would resume as per regular schedules beginning today, Monday, May 12 (with exceptions of EY297 and EY303 scheduled for early this morning as the return sectors of the cancelled EY296 and EY302 flights on Sunday).
Etihad also elaborated that passengers transiting through Zayed International Airport (AUH) to connect to cancelled flights would not be accepted for travel from their point of origin, unless separate onward travel arrangements from Abu Dhabi had been made.
Flight schedules and updates are detailed on Etihad Airways’ travel alerts page.
