UAE 2026: 9 ways life across the Emirates will change next year
UAE 2026 will speed up your world and simplify everyday life
Next year, the UAE moves at a new pace. Cities are connecting faster, the skies open to air taxis, and everyday life flows with ease – from parking to banking. Plastics fade, travel becomes effortless, and family takes centre stage. UAE 2026 offers a glimpse of life in motion, designed to be smarter, cleaner, and full of possibility.
Air taxis take off
Electric air taxis could be flying by 2026, carrying four passengers at speeds over 300km/h. Vertiports are planned near Dubai Mall, Palm Jumeirah, the airport, and the American University of Dubai, allowing trips to Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, or Fujairah in under 30 minutes.
Banking gets smoother
UAE banks will phase out SMS and email OTPs by March 2026. All transaction verifications will shift to secure app-based authentication, protecting customers from fraud and streamlining banking processes.

Etihad Rail connects the country
Etihad Rail passenger services are set to launch, connecting 11 cities from Al Sila to Fujairah. Abu Dhabi to Dubai will take just 57 minutes, Abu Dhabi to Ruwais 70 minutes, and Abu Dhabi to Fujairah 105 minutes. Each train carries up to 400 passengers, with multiple daily trips projected to serve 36.5 million passengers by 2030, reducing road congestion and linking communities across the UAE.
Flights and new destinations
- Etihad Airways will add eight new routes: Baku, Yerevan, Tbilisi, Almaty, Bucharest, Salalah, Krakow, and one more in early 2026.
- Emirates will triple flights to London/Gatwick, operating four round trips daily from February. These expansions make it easier than ever to plan trips across Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East.
Parking made simple
Parkin is rolling out real-time updates for over 250,000 parking spaces. With cameras, sensors, and digital tools, drivers can find spaces quickly, reducing congestion and making city driving smoother.
GCC unified visa
A single Gulf visa will cover all six GCC countries – UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain. Visitors can travel freely across the region with one permit, simplifying tourism and business travel.
Plastics step aside
Starting January 1, 2026, single-use plastics, including cups, lids, plates, cutlery, and containers, will be prohibited across the UAE. This builds on earlier restrictions and supports a greener, cleaner environment.
CBSE Global Curriculum arrives
From April 2026, CBSE-affiliated schools in the UAE will implement the CBSE Global Curriculum. This brings a more international perspective to students’ learning, preparing them for global opportunities while maintaining local connections.
The ‘Year of Family’
Declared by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Year of Family highlights the family as the cornerstone of UAE society. Initiatives will focus on cultural preservation, family values, and programmes supporting future generations.
