Just in: Etihad to offer free medical travel insurance for Abu Dhabi visitors
Planning a trip to Abu Dhabi? From July 2026, visitors flying with Etihad Airways will automatically receive complimentary medical travel insurance for up to 15 days during their stay in the UAE
The initiative, launched by Etihad Airways in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and The National Insurance Company, Daman, will be available from July to December 2026.
The insurance will be automatically included with eligible Etihad tickets, meaning travellers won’t need to fill out any forms or submit a separate application.
Who is eligible?
Any international visitor flying to Abu Dhabi on an Etihad-operated flight will qualify, provided both the point of origin and point of sale are outside the UAE. Guests using Etihad’s complimentary Stopover Programme will also be covered for the duration of their stay in Abu Dhabi.
The cover, which is underwritten and administered by The National Insurance Company – Daman, applies for up to 15 days in the UAE.
His Excellency Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director General for Tourism at DCT Abu Dhabi, said: “This initiative ensures we meet that demand with an exceptional, end-to-end visitor experience. Our partnership with Etihad will set a new benchmark for destination standards and ensure our guests feel welcomed, valued, and cared for from the moment they book.”
Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer, Etihad Airways, added: “Abu Dhabi is one of the most captivating destinations in the world, and our job is to make both getting here and being here as seamless as possible. Giving comprehensive medical insurance with every eligible Etihad ticket means our guests can focus entirely on experiencing the extraordinary Emirati hospitality Abu Dhabi has to offer. This is what it looks like when an airline and a destination truly invest in their visitors.”
Khaled Ateeq Aldhaheri, Chief Executive Officer of The National Insurance Company – Daman, said: “Protecting people’s health and wellbeing is central to Daman’s role as the UAE’s leading health insurer.”
The move comes as Abu Dhabi continues to attract growing numbers of international visitors, with world-famous attractions including the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Saadiyat Island and Yas Island helping position the capital as a leading global tourism destination.
With complimentary medical cover now included for eligible travellers, visitors can enjoy added peace of mind while exploring everything Abu Dhabi has to offer.
