Drivers may finally get a break at the pumps as UAE petrol prices could fall in July

After several months of rising UAE petrol prices, motorists across the UAE could see petrol prices come down in July, here is what we know so far…

Fuel prices have steadily increased since March as global oil prices climbed following tensions in the Middle East. However, oil has now dropped back to much lower levels, raising hopes that the next fuel price announcement will bring some welcome savings for drivers.

Why prices could be lower

The UAE reviews fuel prices each month based on average global oil prices. While the June rates reflected higher oil costs seen in previous weeks, the market has changed significantly during June.

Oil prices have eased as concerns over supply disruptions in the region have reduced and shipping routes have become more stable. If this trend continues until the end of the month, it is likely to be reflected in July’s petrol prices.

What are the current fuel prices?

For June, motorists have been paying:

  • Super 98: Dhs3.95 per litre
  • Special 95: Dhs3.83 per litre
  • E-Plus 91: Dhs3.76 per litre
  • Diesel: Dhs4.33 per litre

These are the highest prices UAE drivers have seen in several months, making filling up noticeably more expensive than earlier this year.

How much could prices drop?

The official July fuel prices have not yet been announced, so it’s too early to know exactly what motorists will pay.

However, if oil prices remain around their current levels, petrol prices are expected to decrease compared with June. Diesel may also become cheaper, although changes to diesel prices are often less significant.

The final figures will be confirmed by the UAE Fuel Price Committee at the end of the month, with the new rates coming into effect from Tuesday, July 1.
