Your guide to the new artisan market at The Beach

There’s a new market at The Beach opposite JBR: here are the shops you’ll find there…

Still needing to do the bulk of your Christmas shopping (don’t worry, us too – TBH we’ll probably be down the shops on the 24th).

The good news is that there’s a new market at The Beach opposite JBR where you’ll find dozens of shops that you wouldn’t necessarily see in the mall.

Now open and running until the end of April 2017, The Market is right by the sea and has both food stalls and arts and crafts vendors, so you can get everything from olive tapenade to giant inflatable swans (of course) and deck chairs printed with a bespoke image of your choice.

In fact, it’s split into two sections – Eat Later is where you’ll find food gifts and Bits and Pieces will be full of folk selling everything from cushions to jewellery.

Tipsy Gipsy: Floaty fashion for women and girls.

UpBeach: Fancy beachwear made from linen and the like that’s very St Tropez.

Mille Rostock: You’ll find fun takes on the Arabian Gutra and Keffiyeh scarf at this Dubai-based designer’s stall.

Sun Specs: The perfect place to go if you forget your sunnies next time you go to the beach.

Max: These guys will make you a piece of jewelry with your name handwritten in Arabic. A great gift option.

Kikwetu: Intricate bracelets and necklaces that come from Nairobi and Mombasa’s markets, as well as those Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda.

Aisha’s Charms: Turkish jewellery.

Art & Gifts: Gift car plates and fridge magnets (who doesn’t love a fridge magnet?).

Fusion: The place to find Kashmiri pashmina shawls.

Summer Soul: Sandals and beach cover ups.

Dukhon & Oud: Handmade Arabic oils.

Mayar Design: Jewellery and accessories with an Arabic design twist.

Yousef: Hand decorated mobile phone covers (which the artist can paint on the spot for you).

Latelier: Boutique homewares (the kind you’d see at a fancy Dubai department store, just at a fairer price).

Kasool: Comfy air loungers for the beach that come in a bunch of colours.

Alwan: Turkish jewellery and accessories.

Manta & Rebezo: Fairtrade fashion for women and children, mostly from Mexico.

Futoon: Hand-woven towels and beach baskets.

You Tan Ibiza: T-shirts and accessories.

Anatolian: Chunky and modern jewellery.
