Sadly, Fortnum & Mason next to the Dubai Mall has closed down
It was a top spot for tea and cakes, but it has shut down for good…
You know Fortnum & Mason near Dubai Mall? It was in that separate little building between the Dubai Mall and the Address Downtown (with a great view of fountains) right near the mall’s official Uber pick up spot.
Well, sadly, the famous British brand is no longer in Dubai – the high tea spot shut its doors on July 7 this year. The Fortnum & Mason story began in London back in 1705, they invented the Scotch egg in 1738 and the Dubai store was the first international posting for the legendary brand.
Walk past now and you’ll see the lights are off, the signs are down and the building isn’t occupied.
The good news is that you can still buy the tea and other F&M products to be delivered to your home in Dubai at fortnumandmason.com. Fortnum & Mason still talks about the Dubai store on its website, but this clearly just hasn’t been updated yet as we’ve had confirmation from the Dubai holding company that they have indeed shut shop.
“It is with deep regret that we have made a mutual agreement and considered decision with our partner Fortnum & Mason that we will cease trading on the 9th of July 2017,” said AKI, the company that ran the high tea spot here (and is also behind brands like Burger Fuel and Superdry in the UAE).
“AKI will continue to be a key market leader for our other international brands,” the company added.
What will go in the space where Fortnum & Mason once was? We don’t know – but we’ll certainly keep you updated.
