From unique dining experiences, to wallet-friendly dinner deals perfect for pairs, we seem to have it all in Dubai.

But as the foodie scene gets bigger and bigger, we’re seeing both old and new concepts bringing a fresh approach to dining.

Here are three restaurants on our radar to check out this weekend (here are the four fresh places we pointed out last week).

THE BRAND NEW

Toro & Ko: The licensed Tapas bar in City Walk

This Barcelona-inspired tapas bar from award-winning chefs Ken Oringer and Jamie Bissonnette has just opened in City Walk. Located at the licensed dining destination, The Square, the restaurant brings the soul and spirit of Barcelona to Dubai by way of Manhattan, offering a menu of refined tapas in an upscale but casual setting. Dishes include Erizos con caviar Sevruga, a sea urchin served with quail egg and caviar (Dhs92), Croquetas de tinta de calamar, squid ink croquettes (Dhs52) and a whole section dedicated to paella. The prohibition-style martini bar is also worth a browse.

THE SECOND SERVING

Eat: The Bay Square cafe with a focus on homemade goods

With its warm wooden hints, pastel tones and white bricks, there’s a cosy new spot to spend your weekends at Bay Square, Business Bay. It’s the second Eat to open in Dubai, the first is in JLT. There’s a daytime dining menu catering to breakfast lovers with the likes of fluffy buttermilk pancakes (Dhs36), that switches to lunchtime dining later in the day. The soup of the day and a selection of salads and sandwiches from Dhs26 make for a great grab-and-go lunch option. If you’ve got time on your hands, leisurely lunch options include a baby chicken stuffed with freekeh, slow-braised lamb shank served with garlic mash or a vegetable lasagne. Or for a sweet treat, a selection of pastries, tarts and cakes are baked on site daily.

THE HOTEL UPDATE

Moombai & Co: An Irani-Parsi cafe and bar headed for the H Hotel

Opening this Friday is the quirky and colourful Moombai & Co. Café and Bar, where 1950s Mumbai meets modern day Dubai. Its theme is café-style dining typical of old-fashioned Parsi and Indian cuisine, uplifted for the food trends of Dubai. Menu highlights include Keema Po, a café delicacy of minced meat with buttered pao; Nalli Nihari, lamb shanks and marrow cooked served with keema samosa; and Auntie’s Bhuna Gosht, a slow-cooked curry made from a secret recipe. The café also boasts a separate bar called the Permit Bar where you can expect to find bottle-aged cocktails, cold drip coffees and  a dedicated espresso martini menu. Daily happy hours and an all day Saturday breakfast are also on offer.
