UAE confirms Isra’a Wal Mi'raj holiday date
So it looks like there won’t be any day off…
We’ve all been eagerly waiting for the announcement, but it looks like it’s sad news for those of us hoping for a long weekend. The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has confirmed that Isra’a Wal Mi’raj will fall on Saturday April 14.
This means there won’t be an extra day off for workers with a Friday/Saturday weekend. Those who usually only have Friday off will enjoy the holiday, however.
The ministry said: “Saturday, April 14 will be a paid public holiday for all employees of private sector establishments in the UAE on the occasion.”

This holiday marks the night that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) travelled from Mecca to Jerusalem and ascended to heaven.
On the occasion of Isra’a Wal Mi’raj, the Department of Tourism and Commerce last week highlighted that there will be a dry night from 6pm on Friday April 13 until 7pm on Saturday April 14.
Many of you will be very familiar with this concept, however, some of you who are new to Dubai might not be.
Here’s an explainer: during a dry day, no alcohol is served across Dubai and the UAE. This applies to all outlets, including hotels. This will mean you won’t be served alcoholic drinks at all after 6pm on Friday April 13, or until after 7pm on Saturday April 14.
