Feeling disappointed because this weekend isn’t going to be quite as long as you’d hoped?

Welcome to the club. But don’t worry – there are plenty more holidays on the horizon, with three-day weekends (and maybe even longer) to look forward to.

Eid Al Fitr

The next holiday is coming up in June. Ramadan is expected to begin on Thursday, May 17 this year, and Eid Al Fitr – the holiday marking the end of Ramadan – looks set to fall on Friday, June 15. We normally get two days off for Eid. Federal law states that public holidays in the UAE can be moved to the beginning or end of the week if they fall between two working days.

Arafat Day & Eid Al Adha

Arafat Day is likely to be observed Tuesday, August 21, followed by Eid Al Adha on August 22. This could mean we get Tuesday through to Thursday off – hello, five-day weekend.

Hijri

Hijri, or Islamic New Year, is set to fall on Tuesday, September 11, which gives us a mid-week day off.

Milad Un Nabi

Milad Un Nabi, or the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), is expected to fall on Tuesday, November 20, so there’s another mid-week break.

Commemoration Day & National Day

Commemoration Day falls on Friday, November 30, while National Day falls on Sunday, December 2. The holidays may be combined, so it’s likely we’ll just get the Sunday off.

Remember, Islamic holidays are based on the phases of the moon, so exact dates may vary – we’ll keep you updated closer to the time when the official holiday is announced.
