David Guetta is coming back to Dubai.

The hit-making French DJ will roll back into the region for the first time since May 2013, taking to the stage at Atlantis on Thursday December 18.

The gig was announced at Friday night’s Sandance and greeted by a rapturous cheer by the 12,000-strong gathering crowd, who had rocked the night away to De La Soul, Empire Of The Sun, Clean Bandit and Rudimental.

Also on last night’s bill were Swedish pair Axwell and Ingrosso, two-thirds of Swedish House Mafia, and with the confirmation of Guetta’s show later this year, 2014 will certainly go down as a major leap forward to the EDM scene in the Middle East.

Still to come this year is the world-renowned Sensation party, hosting its first outdoor event at Meydan on October 31, featuring Martin Garrix, Roger Sanchez, AN21 and Max Vangeli. There’s also Armin van Buuren at the Yas Marina Formula One after race concerts, and a series of stars at venues such as Zero Gravity and Cavalli Club.

But for all those, the arrival of Guetta is likely to be the single-most popular choice for fans, much like his 2013 sell-out show that saw him team up with Akon to perform their hit ‘Sexy Chick’.

After more than a decade on the club scene, namely with his ‘**** Me I’m Famous’ sessions, the 46-year-old achieved his mainstream breakthrough in 2009 with the album ‘One Love’. Hit singles ‘When Love Takes Over’, ‘Getting Over You’ and the Akon smash all reached No 1 in the UK charts, and with the follow up in 2011, ‘Nothing But The Beat’, enjoying similar success, Guetta has sold over six million albums, and 15 million singles worldwide.

Tickets for the show are on sale now from AtlantisThePalm.com, Virgin Megastore, and Platinumlist.net priced from Dhs275.

Also announced this week was the return of Estelle, the Grammy-winning British artist who has previously collaborated with Guetta – as well as Kanye West and others. The American Boy singer will perform at Amber Lounge on November 22 and 23 as part of the F1 after-race parties.
