Dubai Parks plans

Scheduled for completion in 2016, the Dhs10 billion leisure and entertainment district known as Dubai Parks and Resorts will feature three themed areas in its first phase, including LEGOLAND, Motion Gate and Bollywood Parks Dubai.

Among the three main themed areas, visitors will find Bollywood Parks. Covering three million square feet, it will host 16 rides and attractions within five movie themed zones, all reached through the ‘Bollywood Boulevard’.

Over at Motiongate Dubai, guests will find Sony Pictures Studio, Dreamworks Animation Zone and Smurfs Zone, which will contain themed attractions inspired by popular Sony Pictures, such as Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs’, ‘Hotel Transylvania’, ‘Ghostbusters’, ‘The Green Hornet’, ‘Underworld’, ‘Zombieland’, in addition to hosting the world’s favorite little blue characters ‘The Smurfs’.

It is being described as ‘a cinematic journey of discovery, bringing to life some of the most recognisable Hollywood icons from the big screen.’

A Polynesian-themed family hotel, to be operated by Marriott International, will also be on site.

With 503 rooms, the resort takes its name from the pre-historic Pacific Ocean people who were considered nautical experts and ancestors of the Polynesian race. Guests can expect lagoon-style pools, themed activities and dining options, as well as in-house entertainment and relaxation zones.

Spanning an area of 120,000 sq meters, Riverpark will be the food and retail hub. It will feature a one-kilometre canal lined with cafés and retail outlets.
