Best places to keep the Sevens party going after the rugby finishes
Seeing Fred Flintstone throwing shapes sandwiched between a couple of Teletubbies has to be one of the strangest sights we saw last year, but that’s why we love this late-into-the-night beach party.
Le Méridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina, Al Sufouh Road, Dubai Marina, Dubai. Tel: (04) 3993333. Metro: Dubai Marina.lemeridien-minaseyahi.com
British-style pub DD’s has an outdoor terrace that is sure to be a hive of activity post-Sevens, as is the dance-floor.
Al Murooj Rotana, Dubai. Tel: (04) 3211111. Metro: Financial Centre. rotana.com
The Irish Village
There may be no Irish participation on the field this year, but that won’t stop the party at the IV, especially with buses shuttling between the stadium and the ever-popular Irish bar. The food’s pretty good, too.
The Aviation Club, Garhoud, Dubai. Tel: (04) 2824750. Metro: GGICO irishvillage.com
Rock Bottom Café
The mercurial Bur Dubai watering hole is popular with rugby fans, but also a favourite with players from the teams playing at the Sevens. The live band on Saturday always generates a good atmosphere, busting out all the favourite Sevens anthems. Sweet Caroline, anyone? For those at the other end of town, RB’s also boasts a branch in Tecom – same silliness, different location.
Regent Palace Hotel, Trade Centre Road, Bur Dubai, Dubai. Tel: (04) 3963888. Metro: Khalid Bin Al Waleed. regentpalacehotel.co.uk. Ramee Rose Hotel, Tecom, Dubai. Tel: (04) 4500111. Metro: Dubai Internet City. rameehotels.com
