MultiClub
This new Media City gym has an outdoor boxing ring and cross-fit training area – a pre-work training session on the rooftop is a great way to start your day.

Sandboarding
Stand on a board and ride down a sand dune. Not just some tourist gimmick cooked up in Dubai, sandboarding enjoys a worldwide following. The board design borrows from snowboarding, with bindings to secure your feet. Arabian Adventures runs a Rides and Slides package, which also includes a camel ride.

Check out our complete guide to boardsports in Dubai right here.

Yogalates Bliss
Yoga is even more relaxing when you do it outside. Yogalates Bliss holds morning and evening classes – combining yoga and pilates – on the terrace at Fraser Suites.

Fraser Suites, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai, Mon and Wed 8.30am and 7.15pm, Dhs70. Taxi: Fraser Suites. yogalatesblissindubai

Outrigging
Known as ‘waka ama’ to the Maoris of New Zealand, the outrigger canoe has long been the transport of choice for Polynesian Islanders. You can try it out for yourself at the Dubai Outrigger Canoe Club. Six people sit in a long, thin canoe, with an extra hull (or ‘outrigger’) for stability, and propel themselves with paddles. Hardcore competitors race over several lung-bursting kilometres, crashing through the open seas.

Dubai Outrigger Canoe Club, 1km from Kite Beach near Fishermen’s Village, Sat 10am, first session free, one-year membership Dhs1,500. Tel: (055) 9229122. Taxi: Fishermen’s Village
