Apple rumours are nothing new – in fact, scouring the web for leaked pictures of the latest models and crazy innovations is just part of life as an iPhone devotee.

However, the latest story from the rumour mill really is something for UAE residents to get excited about – the Silicon Valley company is reportedly planning to open up its first ever Middle East flagship store in Dubai. And, unsurprisingly, given the Emirate’s penchant for breaking world records, it will also be the tech giant’s largest retail store to date.

The whispers started earlier this month, when the Californian company posted retail job listings on its site advertising for a number of UAE-based roles, including managers, market leaders, business specialists and, of course, Apple ‘geniuses’.

A recent report from Edgar Daily has added fuel to the fire, claiming the store will be located in the Mall Of The Emirates, and that it could open as early as the first quarter of 2015. It will, they say, be replacing the current cinema complex.

If this is true, it’s great news for the region’s Apple fans, who currently have to rely on the UAE’s various re-sellers for all their tech needs.

This isn’t the first time that there’ve been rumours of Apple opening a retail store in the region – in January, CEO Tim Cook met with UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, and there seemed to be every chance that he was scoping out the area. There was also speculation that the flagship store might be destined for The Galleria in Sowwah Square in Abu Dhabi.

Apple were unavailable for comment when contacted by What’s On.
