World No 1 Rory McIlroy will headline an elite field of European Tour golfers at Jumeirah Golf Estates this weekend. The Northern Irishman, has been in spectacular form since the summer, winning two major titles and playing a leading role in Europe’s emphatic victory over the Americans in September’s Ryder Cup.

While McIlroy’s brilliant play has all but decided the destination of the coveted Race To Dubai trophy, there is plenty still to play for on the Earth course when the DP World Tour Championship tees off this month. Four of the top six golfers in the world rankings will be in action, with Swede Henrik Stenson looking to become the first man to retain the title. If he can put in a similar performance to the one he managed here last year, with a record score of 25 under par, the World No 5 will take some stopping.

To help preview the event, we’ve teamed up with our pals at Golf Digest Middle East for the complete lowdown on the runners, riders and the new-look course.
