The world’s most expensive burger has been sold in Dubai during a charity auction last weekend.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, Chairman of the Department of Statistics and Community Development in Sharjah and also ambassador of the Pink Caravan campaign, was taking part in Pink Bite, an event that saw his burger creation sell at auction for Dhs25,000. The previous most expensive burger in the world was sold for Dhs18,000 in Las Vegas.

Ambassadors of the charity took part in the first Pink Bite at Galeries Lafayette to see who could come up with the tastiest, yet healthy, burger.

World's costliest burger

Chef Russell Impiazzi, culinary director at Galeries LaFayette and supervisor of the cook-off, took to Instagram to congratulate the massive auction sale: “There’s a new Burger King in town tonight! Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani for the Pink Bike. An awesome burger for an awesome cause. Fantastic effort from all of the Pink Caravan ambassadors. Great to see such support and generosity from all.”

The wider initiative, Pink Caravan, is halfway through a nationwide tour on horseback, with over 150 riders and about 300 volunteers spreading the word on how women can get examined for breast cancer. It offers free examinations and screenings for anyone in the UAE.

It also provides intensive support and treatment every year for 30 patients with breast cancer.
