Celebrity chef Yves Mattagne is heading for Café Belge for a special three-night run in May.

The Belgian is regarded among the planet’s finest seafood chefs and is the brains behind the renowned Sea Grill, a two-Michellin starred restaurant in Brussels.

Diners can enjoy a specially created five-course degustation menu for just Dhs450, including hand peeled shrimps and a signature sole dish known as ‘Sole From Our Coast’, which comes with oyster, verbena, vuzu mousseline and soya beans.

A la carte options are also available.

Chef Mattagne’s arrival kick-starts a series of new launches for the Grand Café in Ritz-Carlton, DIFC, which was awarded two grey hats in the 2015 Black Hat Guide.

A new sharing menu is now also on offer, while a ‘Very Happy Hour’ between 6pm and 8pm now runs every day with additional deals.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Did we just travel back in time to the 1920s? It’s white, bright and airy with beautiful period décor.

VIBE
Elegant and sophisticated – but with a relaxed and laidback atmosphere.

WHAT TO ORDER
It’s a Belgian restaurant so the pots of mussels in a variety of sauces are a hit.

LOOK OUT FOR
The beautiful bar with its gleaming brass rails and marble top.

IDEAL FOR
A Saturday night treat, especially good for couples.

INSIDER INFO
The chips are cooked three times: blanched, then cooked in beef oil before a final dip in vegetable oil.
