Eat well: Where to buy organic produce in Abu Dhabi
What’s On has details of the best markets in Abu Dhabi for healthy organic produce including Ripe Market and Mawasim Organic Market.
Mawasim Organic Market
The newest organic market in town is being hosted on the ground floor of the World Trade Center Mall every Friday. The seasonal fruits and vegetables here have been sourced from an EU organically certified, local farm. Expect items like cherry tomatoes, seedless watermelons, coriander and kale.
World Trade Center Mall, Al Markaziyah, Abu Dhabi, Fri 2pm to 8pm. Tel: (02) 5082400. Taxi: World Trade Center Mall. wtcad.ae
This popular outdoors market has moved inside The Collection at the St Regis Saadiyat to escape the heat. It’s a farmer’s market held on Saturday mornings and in addition to local organic fruit and veggies, you’ll also find vendors selling crafts and jewellery.
The Collection, Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi, Sat 10am to 2pm. Tel: (04) 3807602. Taxi: St Regis Saadiyat. ripeme.com
Organic Foods And Café
This shop offers organic produce, a large selection of imported food staples you’d be hard pressed to find at other supermarkets, and hormone-free meats and poultry. And if shopping makes you hungry, check out the café hidden in the back. You can also order online, however deliveries in Abu Dhabi are only carried out on Sundays.
Nation Galleria, Al Khubeirah, Abu Dhabi, daily 9am to 11pm. Tel: (02) 6654244. Taxi: Nation Towers, Corniche. organicfoodsandcafe.com
The Market at Mushrif Mall
While there is something wonderful about wandering the food markets in Mina, the summer heat makes this air-conditioned alternative in Al Mushrif a winner to us. Head to the lower levels of this mall to get the same type and quality of produce and meat cut to your specifications from vendors here. There’s even fish tanks for you to pick out your meals.
Mushrif Mall, Al Mushrif, Abu Dhabi, Sun to Wed 9am to 10pm, Thur to Sat 9am to 11pm. Tel: (02) 6904444. Taxi: Mushrif Mall. mushrifmall.com/the-market
