Australian-based timelapse photographer and filmmaker Matthew Vandeputte is famous for his videos of immense Southern Hemisphere skies and mega-high sunsets, but he’s just released a video featuring a new subject – Dubai.

The video takes us from Downtown to dunes and focuses on everywhere from highways to Hatta: and there is, of course, an obligatory Madinat Jumeirah abra sequence.

“I shot 28,233 RAW photos,” explains Vandeputte of what goes into the making of one of these videos, “which resulted in 1,160 gigabytes of data. In total I recorded 56 timelapse sequences and 1168 video sequences.”

We particularly love how the dunes transform into clouds at about the 26 second mark.
