Etihad Rail's Madinat Zayed and Liwa passenger train stations to open on November 30
The Etihad Rail network continues to expand
All aboard: two more Etihad Rail passenger train stations in Abu Dhabi have been given an official opening date. During a meeting with delegates from Etihad Rail, HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nayhan, the Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra directed that the Zayed City and Liwa train stations be brought forward to November 30, 2026.
The meeting, which took place on Wednesday July 22 at Al Nakheel Palace in Abu Dhabi, also saw the Ruler’s Representative review the latest developments of the UAE National Railway Network, including future passenger rail stations in the Al Dhafra Region and joint projects in Al Sila’a.
In a statement carried by Abu Dhabi Media Office, Sheikh Hamdan made the directive to align with the forthcoming festivals and entertainment calendar in the UAE capital, allowing for seamless connectivity for residents and visitors.
Where are these Etihad Rail stations located?
Madinat Zayed, Abu Dhabi
Located in the Al Dhafra region, this station will connect one of the UAE’s largest towns with the rest of the rail network.
Liwa, Abu Dhabi
The new station in the Liwa Oasis will make reaching the region’s famous desert landscapes easier than ever.
What about the rest of the network?

Etihad Rail passenger trains launched on June 30 with a thrice-daily service between Mohammed Bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi and Al Hilal, Fujairah.
On September 30, the only passenger train station in Dubai at Jumeirah Golf Estates will open, as well as the Al Dhaid station.
Then on November 30, Madinat Zayed and Liwa stations will open, with the route further expanding on December 30 with stations at Al Dhannah and Al Sila. Then next year, March 30, 2027 will see the University City station in Sharjah open.
