Yesterday we announced that American glam-pop star Adam Lambert was confirmed for RedFestDXB (joining the already-announced 50 Cent, Rita Ora, Eva Simons and MistaJam).

Well, today’s news is that The Vamps – Birmingham’s answer to One Direction – are coming for the music festival too.

With voluminous hair and the vocals to match, the British band is made up of Brad Simpson, James McVey, Connor Ball and Tristan Evan – who, all between 18 and 20, met through YouTube and Facebook after they all posted their songs on there to share them with the world.

Their songs are almost exclusively catchy, and their biggest hit yet is definitely Somebody To You featuring the big-voiced Demi Lovato – the video for which has gained more than 83 million views:

“When we first started out we just wanted to make music and have fun. We had absolutely no idea that we would have even a small amount of the success that has come our way already,” says James McVey of the fact the band’s popularity has skyrocketed – they had five top 10 hits off of their debut album.

Now, it might just be because we’re a decade past their target market, but we think the lads sound the best when they go acoustic – going back to their posting-covers-on-You-Tube roots, allowing their voices to do the majority of the talking.

Here’s an example in which they sing one of their big hits, but without all the synth:
