Our pick of the movies out in Dubai cinemas this week is Deadpool, Marvel’s latest blockbuster. Don’t be fooled by the superhero mask, this isn’t one for the kids…

Here are all the flicks you’ll be able to go see from tomorrow…

DEADPOOL

Anticipation for Marvel’s latest outing has been running high ever since its epic trailer debuted at last year’s San Diego Comic Con, and now it’s confirmed as the biggest opening (for an R-rated movie) ever. Worth the hype? Absolutely. Ryan Reynolds plays mercenary Wade Wilson, who is transformed into Deadpool when an experimental cancer treatment ravages his looks but turns him invincible. The ‘merc with a mouth’, as he’s known, is as sarcastic, foul-mouthed and violent as they come; this may be a superhero movie, but seriously, leave the kids at home.

HAIL, CAESAR

It’s hard to pin the Coen Brothers’ movies down – the only thing that they have in common is that they tend to be unpredictable. Hail, Caesar! seems like their most straightforward outing to date: a love letter to the golden age of Hollywood. The comedy has a star-studded cast with Josh Brolin as tinseltown exec Eddie Mannix, George Clooney as A-lister Baird Whitlock and Ralph Fiennes as grumpy director Laurence Lorenz. And that’s without mentioning Channing Tatum, Scarlett Johansson and Tilda Swinton. Looks like Hollywood’s golden boys have another hit on their hands.

BACKTRACK

This Australian psychological thriller has echoes of the Sixth Sense, but this time it’s Adrien Brody rather than Hayley Joel Osment who’s “seeing dead people” (that’s not a spoiler, by the way). Brody plays psychologist Peter Bower, who discovers that all his recent patients are all recently deceased. Fearing for his sanity, he starts delving into the past with the help of his mentor, fellow shrink Duncan (Sam Neill) to find a cause for these ghostly sightings. It’ll keep you guessing right up to the end.
