1. Russo’s New York Pizzeria
This casual pizza haunt was founded in Texas by chef Anthony Russo, a first-generation Italian-American. Now, it’s one of the most popular pizza parlors in the city, mainly due to its tasty and gigantic pizza slices. The tangy jumbo Buffalo wings dripping in ranch dressing are also not to be missed.

2. Tips and Toes
There are two Tips And Toes in The Greens now, such is the popularity of this neighbourhood salon, and this one is also a hairdressers. Ladies can choose between the standard manis, pedis, massages and facials, or opt for a blow-dry and up-do at this bigger salon. Not many people know about this spot yet, so it’s still nice and quiet as well.

3. Aswaaq
If you don’t live in The Greens or Tecom, it’s likely you won’t need to stop by, but for Emaar residents, this grocery store is a great alternative to the overcrowded Choithrams down the road. Aswaaq has a small bakery, fishery and butchery. Be warned: the aisles are ridiculously narrow, so expect to rub shoulders with shoppers.

4. Caractere
A no-frills men’s salon offering everything from highlights and haircuts (starting at Dhs60) to manly manis and pedis. Elsewhere on the menu are waxing, threading and facials.
