From glass eyeballs to 230 mobile phones, here are some of the things that turned up in one Dubai nightclub’s lost and found over 12 months…
Everyone loves a night out now and then. There are few better ways to blow off steam after a grueling work week.
However, for the inexperienced, or just downright incompetent – nightclubs have the capacity to just chew you up and spit you out. And many people lose stuff in the process…
We spoke to the owner of nightclub Societe Dubai in the Marina, and Gary Holliday gave us the low-down on some of the weirdest and most frequent objects that have rocked up in the club’s lost and found over the past 12 months.
1. A GLASS EYEBALL
“This one left us really flabbergasted. We found the single glass eyeball stuffed down the side of one of the sofas at Societe.”
2. A WALKING STICK
“We saw this guy coming in with his walking stick, but leave without it. Clearly a night of cutting shapes to his favourite retro tunes loosened him up enough to walk home without it.”
Maybe it was this guy’s… Hip hip hooray, son!
3. A CORSET
“This was found in the middle of the night, stuck down the women’s toilet!”
4. A MONOCLE
“Maybe this belonged to the guy who left his glass eye behind?”

5. 16 PAIRS OF SHOES
Are people just walking home barefoot? How does this work? Surely at some point you’d turn around and wonder, ‘am I forgetting something?’

“Plenty of Cinderellas seem to leave behind a shoe and it begs the question – how are they walking home in only one stiletto?”
7. 30 LAPTOPS
This is clearly left behind by people who think: ‘Yeah I thought I’d try and get a spot of work done between trying to hustle my way towards the bar.’
“I just hit play and then I fist-pump for three hours.”
8. 147 BAGS OF GIFTS AND PRESENTS
“We find small bags filled with chocolates, flowers, and more expensive items like bracelets and watches.”
9. 230 MOBILE PHONES
“From iPhones and Galaxies to old school Nokias, we have had every kind of mobile phone…”
“Sweet selfie… Hey is that the new iPhone? It’d be a shame if you were to, I don’t know… drop it.”
10. 322 EARRINGS
“Earrings are never found in pairs, so we’ve ended up with this big bowl of odd earrings and no one ever seems to claim them!”
