This is supercalifragilistic news…

Dubai has been loving Les Misérables, which is playing at Dubai Opera right now, and the good news is that we are getting another Cameron Mackintosh musical next year: Mary Poppins will take to the Opera stage next May.

The West End show’s run will be from May 1 to May 18, and this stage version’s book has been written by the inimitable Julian Fellowes (aka, the Downton Abbey creator).

Well they look like they’re having a good time.

“It’s hard to believe that it is already 12 years since Mary Poppins first landed on the London stage,” said producer Cameron Mackintosh (who is basically the number one musical theatre man in the whole industry, with a reported net worth of USD 1 billion). “I’m delighted to be bringing her to Dubai for the very first time, after spreading her magic around the world.  Since we originally staged the production we have found even more magical ways to stage this timeless tale and I’m sure you will find our new Mary practically perfect in every way.”

Step aside, Mary’s got this…

We’ll be the ones up the front clutching our pearls in delight during Supercalifragilistic, crying to the poignant Feed The Birds and whooping every time our facourite supporting character, Bert, the chimney sweep comes on stage.
