This new restaurant was inspired by Sheikh Mohammed
“We are a young country, proud of its youth.”
H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, is known for his wise words — but it was these ones in particular that inspired a brand new restaurant in the city.
Described as a “paleo health hub and creative work space”, Flow is the brainchild of HE Shamma Bint Suhail Faris Al Mazrui, the UAE Minister of State for Youth Affairs.
What sets it apart from any other health-conscious eatery? Well, all of the restaurant’s employees – including the managers – are under 30.
“Flow has been created by youth to be a destination to connect and lead the movement towards a healthy lifestyle,” said HE Al Mazrui.
“The correct diet ensures a healthy mind and when people are in this state – the state of Flow as we call it – they reach their optimum potential. Flow is where the UAE’s next generation of innovative leaders will connect, create and converse over nutritious food and specialty coffee in a space that nurtures creativity.”
The restaurant will cater to both Emiratis and expats, and will serve up fresh, and (where possible), organic and locally-sourced food.
The sharing-style menu will be filled with healthy snacks, salads and small plates, plus a mixture of vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and paleo-friendly options.
There’ll also be coffee from Dubai company The Espresso Lab, founded by Emirati entrepreneur Ibrahim Al Mallouhi.
The restaurant will boast plenty of Instagram-friendly features (perfect for millennials), like special “milk taps”, where you can select your own almond, rice, soya or coconut milk to go with your homemade granola or coffee.
There’ll also be meeting space, plugs, USB connections and Wi-Fi so digital nomads can work there. It will also be used for regular round-tables with young leaders to get the creative juices flowing.
Flow is due to open on March 19 at Jumeirah Emirates Towers. You’ll catch us there, enjoying a soy latte over Sheikh Mohammed’s new book…
