You can have keys, documents and clothing delivered for as low as Dhs20

Careem has announced a new venture outside of its traditional car-hailing app – a delivery service similar to Fetchr.

Simply called BOX, the service looks to capitalise on one of the clever ‘hacks’ that regular Careem users take advantage of. Namely, using the company’s app to deliver items from A-B via its drivers.

Built into the standard Careem app, users will be able to have items such as keys, documents and clothing delivered and collected, with real-time tracking tracking via the app.

Available between 8am to 8pm, BOX has a base fare of Dhs6, with a minimum rate of Dhs20 for pick-up and Dhs30 for scheduled jobs.

Still in its initial phase, the service will cater to Dubai-based deliveries of distances starting at 5km with aims to keep delivery times down to no longer than 15 minutes. Items can be delivered as far as Sharjah, with plans to expand the services in the future.

I left my keys at home, how can I get them delivered?

The process is similar to booking a car within the app. Simply launch the Careem app, select the BOX icon from the list of available services, and follow the standard booking steps.

Rather than utilising Careem’s usual network of limo drivers, the company has a fleet of motorcycles that are better suited to delivery.

Once the BOX option is selected, the app will match the closest available bike to the customer who will be presented with an estimated time of delivery and a projected fare.

A notification will be delivered (via push notification or SMS) once the driver has arrived, and a receipt emailed when the job is completed.
