The world’s longest gaming livestream is set to last 7 days, 7 hours and 7 minutes

While most of Dubai slaves away in office cubicles at their day jobs, the city’s gamers are currently gathered together at the video game-centric theme park Hub Zero in City Walk, attempting to smash a Guinness World Record for the longest ever recorded livestream.

Having kicked off on June 1, the record attempt is already underway and set to last a whopping 7 days, 7 hours and 7 minutes ending at precisely 10:07pm on June 8.

Hub Zero’s LAN Gaming area, located on the first floor of the building, will remain open 24 hours a day for the duration of the attempt, and the event organisers, AEGaming, are encouraging all avid gamers to sign up and participate.

In order to keep things interesting there will be a number of tournaments taking place for popular games such as Overwatch, Hearthstone and CS:Go, as well as challenges that will pit amateur gamers against seasoned pros in a ‘final boss’-like battle.

Adding to the action will also be a host of daily competitions on the ground floor of Hub Zero at attractions such as Sports Academy, Double Agent, Gears of War and more.

Commenting on the Guinness World Record attempt, Jean Marc Bled, General Manager, Leisure & Entertainment at Meraas, said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with AEGaming to host this Guinness World Record breaking event at Hub Zero. The live stream gives us an opportunity to tap into the incredibly talented gamers in the country and also showcase Hub Zero as the premiere gaming destination in the country.”

The record is currently held by Lifestyler TV in Cologne, Germany who only managed a paltry 6 days, 6 hours and 30 minutes.

If you want to take part, visit the AEGaming Facebook page to check the schedule of events and sign up.

Otherwise, if you’re stuck in the office like the rest of us, you can check in on the livestream and watch the record attempt as it happens via the official YouTube stream.
