We’re going to need some more tissues over here…

Last week, a terrible fire spread through a residential building in Deira.

Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported, and the blaze was quickly brought under control. Sadly, resident Angelie Agoncillo Mangalindan lost her beloved pet cat Chico in the fire.

As Gulf News reports, Dubai Civil Defence asked the 26-year-old sales executive to stop by its headquarters on Tuesday, but did not say why.

When she arrived, she was delighted to find the team had bought her a new cat.

Here’s the heart-warming video of the moment Mangalindan meets her new furry friend:

Major General Rashid Thani Al Matroushi, director-general of Dubai Civil Defence, said they tried to find a cat that resembled Chico, to help her deal with her loss.

“It is part of the Year of Giving to make residents happy,” he said.

Mangalindan told Gulf News she couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw her new pet.

“I feel so happy. I was attached to my former cat and the new cat has brought me so much joy,” she said.

She has named the new cat Cheeno.

It’s been a busy week in feline happenings for Dubai Civil Defence, who also came to the rescue of a kitten trapped behind a wall in Dubai Marina over the weekend.

Clad in high-vis gear and safety helmets, a rescue team were able to successfully remove the clumsy cat, which emerged completely unharmed.
