The award-winning shot was chosen based on creativity and photographic quality

Dubai is an infinitely photographable city – from its futuristic architecture to its surrounding desert landscape, there’s never a shortage of subject matter for eager photographers to snap.

One such shutterbug, bachir_photo_phactory, has been taking to the skies with a remote-controlled drone to photograph some of the most stunning shots of the city that we’ve ever seen.

This one in particular, titled ‘Concrete Jungle’, is remarkably special, showing off an awesome birds-eye-view of Dubai Marina.

The photo was so good, in fact, that it managed to nab top honours in the ‘Urban’ category of the fourth international Dronestagram contest – an annual competition held in conjunction with National Geographic that recognises the very best of aerial drone photography from around the world.

There were over 8,000 entrants, so you know that this years competition was tough, and submissions were judged by a panel of experts including members of the National Geographic team. Ultimately though, Bachirm went on to beat out entries from Spain and Russia in his category to take home the prize – good job!

Here are some of our other favourite shots from his Instagram account that focuses primarily on aerial drone photography. For a full list of the 2017 Dronestagram finalists click here.
