The world’s biggest beer and folk festival is here…

Oktoberfest might have originated in Germany, but that won’t stop us from getting in on the action. The beer and folk festival kicks off in mid-September and lasts up to 16 or 18 days in the city’s capital of Munich.

This year, you’ll find a host of restaurants and bars bringing the all-singing, all-dancing festival to Dubai. So dust off your lederhosen and pack in those pretzels, here are the best places to celebrate.

Barasti

Barasti’s Oktoberfest celebrations kick off on Thursday September 21, with 10 days of live music, food and beer. German rock group Chaos Die Party will be headlining, supported by resident quintet Sweet Chilli Jam. Staff will be sporting lederhosen and dirndl, and a whole host of traditional foods will be on offer, too.

Bidi Bondi

This Oktoberfest, tuck into the Oktoberfest Burger, specifically designed for the month long Oktoberfest celebrations at Bidi Bondi. Guests can enjoy a Bratwurst in a pretzel burger bun, topped with German beer cheese sauce, caramelized onions and currywurst mayo for Dhs90 per person. The deal is available for one month from September 15, and will also be available at Left Bank, Mr Toads, Apres and Jacks Bar and Grill.

Der Keller

German restaurant Der Keller is celebrating Oktoberfest from September 15 until October 4 with a classic Bavarian menu. Expect authentic goodies, including wiener schnitzel and ‘Blatterteigschnitte mit Schokolade’ (chocolate Napolean). There will also be daily buy-one-get-one-free deals on German beers.

The Dome

Join in on the Bavarian celebrations at Dubai Sports City with everything from German brews to bratwurst, and schnitzel to sauerkraut. The Dome will also have an all-new outdoor ‘Chill Out Zone’, as well as live music from Bavarian band, Die Derbys. Tickets are available on Platinum List from Dhs45. Hofbräuhaus

Authentic hearty Oktoberfest dishes, signature pints of German brews and Bavarian songs served up from a live band arriving straight from the Wiesn are on offer at Hofbrauhaus’ annual Oktoberfest celebrations this year. It’s ongoing for a month until October 28, plus every Thursday and Friday there’s a special Barvarian buffet for Dhs120 per person, or Dhs180 including a liter pitcher of brew.

Long’s Bar

Make your way to Long’s for a three-day Bavarian affair, with a 30 per cent discount on selected house beverages. There will also be a variety of Oktoberfest foods on offer, like the Thuringer bratwurst, Weisswurst and Berner-Wurstel.

Lucky Voice

Head to Lucky Voice from 8pm on Friday September 29 for an Oktoberfest after-party. There will be a pop-up bar, live performances and prizes, as well as special offers on beers and other German beverages.

McGettigans

From September 16 to October 4, head to McGettigan’s JLT, Souk Madinat Jumeirah, and DWTC to enjoy a special German combo deal. You can get a foot-long German sausage with sauerkraut, beer mustard and currywurst sauce with a bottle of beer for Dhs99.
