Forget another passive dinner reservation. This summer, the city’s best kitchens want you in them…

Want to try some cooking classes in Dubai? From stretching phyllo paper-thin with your bare hands to twisting your own sausages link by link, a wave of hands-on workshops is turning cooking classes into the hottest ticket in town. Whether you’re a total beginner or just someone who wants a Saturday that smells like garlic and butter, here’s where to get your hands (deliciously) dirty.

4 cooking classes in Dubai you just have to try this summer.

Piehaus, Alserkal Avenue

There’s something almost meditative about watching dough become paper. At Piehaus’ new Art of Phyllo workshop, the award-winning homegrown bakehouse is celebrating one of the oldest handmade culinary traditions still going. Over 90 unhurried minutes, small groups of four to eight beginners are welcomed with a signature piehaus drink before learning the history and technique behind hand-stretched phyllo. You’ll knead, stretch and shape your own dough into five or six miniature pies, bake them, and share them warm around the table, before packing up the rest (plus a recipe card) to take home.

When: July 29 | Dhs375

Fin and Bone, Al Barari

For something a little meatier, Fin and Bone’s 90-minute Sausage Making Masterclass takes you from raw meat to finished link. Guided step-by-step by the in-house team, you’ll learn to prep and season the meat, then get into the genuinely satisfying craft of filling and twisting your own sausages. Walk away with four of your own creations to fire up at home – bragging rights included.

Sagra, Jumeirah 3

Sagra - cooking classes in Dubai

Tucked into Jumeirah 3, family-owned Italian favourite Sagra has just landed a spot on the World’s 50 Best Discovery List – proof, if any were needed, that its kitchen knows what it’s doing. Handily, that kitchen has always been an open one, running pasta workshops across roughly two hours where guests learn to hand-roll egg pasta from scratch, shape delicate ravioli, and whisk together a proper tiramisu, all under expert guidance in a warm, homely setting that feels more like cooking with family than a class.

When:  Several sessions each week | From Dhs180 to Dhs250

Neighbourhood Food Halls, Motor City

cooking classes in Dubai

Every Tuesday morning this summer, the NFH turns into a playground for tiny toques. Running from 11am to noon, the kids’ cooking series has little hands tossing together a fresh Thai papaya salad, patting out naan dough and folding dumplings — all the messy, hands-in-the-bowl fun that makes food genuinely exciting for kids.
