Dubai's new beachfront destination La Mer is set to open to the public
We can’t wait to check it out…
Remember how last month we told you all about La Mer, that huge new beachfront development in Jumeirah 1?
Well, it’s just been announced that the first phase will open to the public on Sunday, October 15.
In case you missed it, La Mer is one of the latest projects from Meraas, the developer behind the likes of The Beach at JBR, Boxpark, and City Walk – as well as the brand new Al Seef cultural district (you can read more about that here).
Located between Pearl Jumeira and Jumeira Bay, La Mer spans a whopping 13.4 million square feet of existing and reclaimed land.
The destination will be made up of three areas: La Mer South, La Mer North, and The Wharf.
The areas you can check out right now are La Mer South and La Mer North, which will have more than 130 shops, cafes and restaurants. The Wharf, which will have its own waterpark, surf park and cinema, is scheduled to open at the start of 2018.
Basically, it looks like it’s going to be a beautiful spot to enjoy a day at the beach.
We wouldn’t mind going for a leisurely stroll around here…
Check out how pretty it looks at night:
So, what will we find there? There will be a natural playground where children can play beside the ocean, as well as a beach club called ‘Sea Spice’, which is set to open soon. There will also be day beds and cabanas available available for visitors.
La Mer will also be home to ‘Hawa Hawa’, a special air-filled trampoline that was designed in Japan. We’re definitely excited to have a bounce…
The existing beaches have been redeveloped to include showers, toilets with baby changing and disabled access, free wi-fi, information hubs, mobile charging, prayer rooms, and more than 1,000 parking spots. Oh, and valet parking will be available on site.
What more could you need? We think we’ve found our perfect beach spot for the winter (a sentence that could only make sense in Dubai).
