Albie Donnelly’s Supercharge to headline a night of jazz, soul and funk on October 20…

After a successful relaunch back in April, the Dubai Jazz Festival’s Jazz Garden Series is back from its summer hiatus.

No longer a multi-day festival, the newly revamped concert series instead focuses on bringing world-class jazz and blues artists to the Habtoor Grand Resort, Dubai Marina, for monthly one-off concerts.

The first of which will take place on Friday 20 October, featuring UK blues outfit Albie Donnelly’s Supercharge.

Best known for his fiery saxophone solos, Albie is consummate bluesman and together with his band Supercharge is expected to bring their wild stage antics that made them a sensation of the British club scene in the ’70s.

Also on the night, award-winning American indie artist Catie Waters will make her Dubai debut. This young singer/songwriter fuses a penchant for R&B, soul, jazz and funk with a modern touch. We particularly liked the groove on her 2013 single ‘Stone Child’.

Opening the show will be popular local blues rock act Lady J  & the Royal Vagabonds.

Organisers have stated that this will be the first in a series of monthly concerts that will run until April 2018, with a two-day festival planned as a grand finale.

Doors open at 6.30pm and admission to the concert is completely free, however you will need to register online via the official website if you plan to attend.
