A revamp for a Media City garden, a new menu at the St Regis and a one-off menu not to miss…

From unique dining experiences to wallet-friendly dinner deals perfect for pairs, we seem to have it all when it comes to new restaurants.

But as the foodie scene gets bigger and bigger, we’re seeing both old and new concepts bringing a fresh approach to dining in Dubai.

So here are three restaurants on our radar to check out this week (here are the three fresh places we pointed out last week).

Garden on 8: The revamped garden spot in Media City

The Garden on 8 in Media City has had a revamp, and there’s now an indoor beer garden that expands out onto the ever-popular terrace. There are gnomes, grass, big screens and benches and some great-value deals to go with the European pub feel. A daily happy hour gets you house drinks for Dhs25 from 6pm to 8pm, a ribs and wings deal for Dhs99 on a Monday, and a Tuesday ladies’ night with three free drinks for girls. Plus, the weather is finally getting cool enough to enjoy an al fresco evening.

Garden on 8, Media One Hotel, Sat to Mon 12pm to 12am, Tues to Fri 12pm to 2am. Tel: (04) 427 1000. More info on website.

J&G Steakhouse: A new head chef with a fresh new menu

J&G Steakhouse has a brand new menu created by the newly appointed Head Chef, Diego Solis. Famed for its freshly grilled meat, J&G Steakhouse has a 17-variety steak menu, served up alongside a quirky condiments trolley. If you’re not a steak lover, there’s also a selection of chicken, seafood and vegetarian options, including lemon crusted halibut and the roasted corn fed chicken supreme.

J&G Steakhouse, St Regis Dubai, Al Habtoor City, daily 6.30pm to 12am. Tel: (04) 435 5577. More info on website

Zheng He’s: The Chinese restaurant with a value menu this Friday

This is the last weekend to take advantage of some of the great-value set menus at Jumeirah Restaurant week, which finishes on Friday October 13. At the excellent Zheng He’s, there’s a three-course menu of Chinese dishes for Dhs150 a person, with choices including prawn dumplings, sweet and sour sea bream and a deep-fried mango cheesecake. It’s served up alongside waterfront Madinat views.

Zheng He’s, Mina A’ Salam, Madinat Jumeirah, daily 12pm to 3pm and 6.30pm to 11.30pm. Tel: (04) 432 3232. More info on website
