Didn’t catch the record-breaking show on New Year’s Eve? You still can…

The announcement that the Burj Khalifa would be firework-free this New Year’s Eve divided the opinions of many UAE residents.

But the promise of ‘Light Up 2018’, a choreographed light and laser show using the Downtown skyline as a backdrop, meant we knew there was something to look forward to.

On the stroke of midnight, the seven-minute long spectacle rung in 2018 while successfully achieving the Guinness World Record for the largest laser, light and sound show on a single structure.

But if you didn’t manage to catch the show, there’s good news; it’s going to be repeated all this week until January 6.

The light show will be displayed live at 8pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, then at 10pm on Thursday, Friday and the final show on Saturday, January 6.

The spectacle beamed onto the 828-metre tower displayed symbols of the UAE, such as Arabic calligraphy, the UAE flag, and even a giant falcon in flight. It also highlighted the fact that 2018 is the Year of Zayed, featuring a portrait of the UAE’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nayhan.
