Van Gogh Alive: The Experience is a visual and audio ‘immersive experience’ running now at the National Theatre

You can now see paintings by Vincent Van Gogh, the legendary Dutch impressionist, in the capital at Abu Dhabi National Theatre in a very unique way – Van Gogh Alive: The Experience projects the artist’s works onto the gallery’s walls, ceilings and floors, showing them at a larger scale and in stunning detail.

The show features 3,000 images (featuring paintings by the Dutchman and other pieces of work) set to a soundtrack of classical musical.

Also inside is a life-size, model recreation of the Gogh’s bedroom, as painted by the artist himself in his piece Bedroom In Arles in 1888.

The exhibition is described as ‘multi-sensory’ and uses SENSORY4 multimedia technology to project images over a series of walls, the idea being it gives new angles and insights into the impressionist’s work. It uses up to 40 high-definition projectors and cinema-quality surround sound to creative a fully immersive experience.

It’s on display in the capital until the end of February, when it then moves to Dubai.
