But if you bank with Emirates NBD, you’ll be able to pay your outstanding fines in installments going forward…

Last year, Dubai Police announced a discount of 50 per cent on traffic and impoundment fines. But, if you’ve still got fines to pay you’re advised to get them paid off soon, as the discount will end on March 1.

The discount is applicable to any fines issued between 1 January 2017 and 2 December 2017, with the provison that they are settled within 90 days.

But, if you don’t manage to get your fines paid by next week, it’s not all bad news if you’re an Emirates NBD bank account holder. The bank has now signed an agreement with The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) which will allow road users to pay fines to the RTA in installments.

The payment scheme will be fixed at a varying time scale, depending on the amount payable through credit cards. Depending on the amount, the payments will be agreed in interest-free installments over periods of 3, 6, 9 or 12 months.

“This initiative is aimed at easing the burden on owners of vehicles in paying for their fines and fees of seasonal parking cards through offering them longer payment period with no interest,” explained the RTA’s director of finance.

It’s the second agreement that has been done of this nature, after the same agreement was made between Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) and the Dubai Police last month.
