Take the kids to Pinkfong And Baby Shark

If you have kids, there’s a very good chance they know Baby Shark, a Korean nursery song that you can watch on YouTube (it has been viewed an incredible 1.4 BILLION times). Now, you can see a live concert version of the hit cartoon (made by Pinkfong, a global kids’ brand), featuring hits such as Hello Pinkfong, Walking Walking, The Penguin Dance, Jungle Boogie, Train, Monkey Bananas and See You Again Pinkfong. There’ll be photo opportunities and merchandise giveaways as well. It’s on in Al Ain at Hili Mall and in Mussafah at Dalma Mall.

Aloft’s Liquid Rain pool and foam party is back

Local art at Al Qattara


There’s a new exhibition running in Al Ain this summer that’s all about community. Summer Exhibition at Al Qattara Arts Centre is showcasing 28 artworks by 23 emerging UAE-based artists and students. Running until late September, each piece offers insight into how every artist views their community, society and the world using a variety of mediums including oils, pastels and digital art. The exhibition also includes pieces by local Al Qattara students, fitting given that since opening in 2011 the centre has offered locals a year-long public programme including exhibitions, activities and art workshops.

Emirati poetry on Saadiyat


Listen to award-winning local poet Afra Atiq, the winner of the 2017 ADMAF Creativity Award, give a reading at The Library on Saadiyat. She is doing two readings, one on Thursday and one on Friday, both at 4pm.

Catch new Emirati horror movie Until Midnight

Fancy seeing a movie tonight? You can watch one made right here in the UAE by Emirati director Tariq Alkazim. Until Midnight is a horror flick starring social media star Ahmed Khamis (who also starred in 2015’s Arab Casting). Alkazim is a rising name in the movie industry in the GCC. His debut movie A Tale Of Shadows was released in cinemas last year. Nigerian actor Chuka Ekweogwu also stars in this creepy tale about a man who’s home alone, but starts to think there’s someone in the house watching him.

See Paa Joe And The Lion

Cinem’Art at Louvre Abu Dhabi is showing Paa Joe And The Lion this weekend. It’s a father and son story about a man who makes coffins for people in the shapes of animals and mythical beasts. His son wants to rebuild the business and construct a lion coffin. The screening is inspired by a current Louvre Abu Dhabi exhibit – the Reliquary casket made with Fatimid Rock crystal plaques (1200-1210). The cask is on display in Gallery 6 of the museum.
