The change will come into effect on August 1…

Back in July of last year, it was announced that Emirates and Flydubai would enter into a partnership agreement, designed to offer customers better travel options.

We’ve already seen the fruits of this joint venture in the form of over 40 codeshare routes between the two Dubai-based airlines, and now it looks like they’re about step things up a notch further.

Flydubai has announced that effective August 1, it will be adopting the Emirates Skywards frequent flyer programme as its own official loyalty programme.

This means that Skywards members travelling on either Emirates and Flydubai will be able to collect both regular Skywards Miles and Tier Miles.

Flydubai’s current loyalty programme, OPEN, will cease to exists once the changes come into effect on August 1, however existing members won’t be left in the lurch. OPEN Gold members and Emirates Skywards Silver members and above, who are also OPEN members, can convert their OPEN rewards points to Skywards Miles at a value of 2 OPEN points to 1 Skywards mile.

This should come as good news to anyone who frequently uses both airlines.
