The Dubai ruler showed up yesterday for an unannounced inspection of the facilities…

Passengers travelling through Dubai International airport yesterday received a pleasant surprise when HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai carried out an unannounced inspection.

The royal toured the facility, starting at the departures hall at Concourse 3 where he stopped at an Emirates airlines check-in counter, baggage-screening facilities and passport control, according to an official statement from Dubai Media Office.

He was joined by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who filmed some of the spot inspection and posted it to his Twitter account:

Following the inspection, Sheikh Mohammed directed officials at DXB to “raise the bar” in simplifying procedures as well as welcoming travellers.
